THT 32 : ASSAM - TEMPLE TOUR (2 NIGHTS / 3 DAYS)
DAY 1: DAY 01: ARRIVE GUWAHATI AIRPORT
Meet & greet on arrival at Guwahati airport & transfer to Hotel. Later visit Balaji Temple. Balaji temple is a white marvelous structure devoted to Lord Balaji. The statue of the deity is carved out of a single rock weighing 4 tonnes. The temple of Lord Ganesha rises to a height of 8 feet and Lord Rajgopuram to 70 feet. Overnight at Guwahati.
DAY 2: DAY FOR PILGRIMAGE
After breakfast start for the pilgrimage tour first visit Maa Kamakhya temple. Later visit Sukleshwar, Nabagraha (temple of nine planets) & Ugra Tara Temple.
Kamakhya Temple – Situated on top of the Nilachal Hill, is the most sacred among the tantrik shrines of Shakti worship in the world. The temple door opens between 8:00 am – 1:00 pm and in the afternoon between 2:30 pm – 5:30 pm for devotees. Kamakhya temple is also famed for the annual Ambubachi Mela held for 4 days during monsoon season. There are also images of Lord Ganesha, Goddess Chamundi and many dance fixtures. The temple structure resembles a Shikhara - a beehive.
From Bhubaneshwari, one can have a bird's eye view of the Guwahati.
DAY 3: TODAY NEAR THE BRAHMAPUTRA
After breakfast drive to Dol Govinda temple. After lunch visit Umananda temple with local boat. Evening at leisure. Free to visit local emporium or shopping.
Dol Govinda temple: The temple is located on the northern banks, on the foot hills of Chandrabharati hill at Rajaduar. The temple has two idols i.e. of Lord Shyamaray and Lord Govinda. 'Dol' utsav is celebrated with much funfair.
Umananda temple: Umananda Temple, a Shiva temple situated on the Peacock island (also known as Bhasmachala Hill or the Hill of ashes) in the middle of the Brahmaputra. This temple was built during the reign of the Ahom ruler Gadadhar Singh in late 17th century.
DAY 4: TODAY FOR TEMPLE AND HERITAGE
After breakfast drive to Hajo (28 km), the centre for various religions - Hayagriva- Madhab Temple & Pao Mecca. After visit Hajo visit Madan Kamdev ruins.
The Hayagriva Madhab Temple is an important place of pilgrimage both for Hindus and the Buddhists. It has the image of Vishnu, resembling the image of Jagannath at Puri in Orissa. This temple is also regarded as a Buddhist shrine by Buddhist Lamas and Butiyas, who profess Buddhism. It is believed that, Lord Buddha attained Nirvana at this place.
Also visit Madan Kamdev - ‘The Khajuraho of Assam’, is one of the most important historical sites in Assam. The ruins of Madan Kamdev are believed to be the remains of more than 20 temples consigned to Lord Shiva belonging to the 10th to 12th century A.D.
DAY 5: DEPARTURE
After breakfast in time transfer to airport / Railway Station for onward journey.
